Basic services for 200 years: With more than 1,600 employees, the Construction Department of the Canton of Zurich is not only an important regional employer, but also the authority responsible for the canton's entire infrastructure. In addition to road and hydraulic engineering, its main areas of responsibility include all major activities relating to the planning, construction, management and maintenance of public buildings and facilities. The aim of the authority is to create an excellent and sustainable infrastructure that makes the canton of Zurich an economically attractive place to live and do business.
Originally, the Canton of Zurich's Building Department worked with more than 600 different templates, which could only be adapted by external technicians. One problem arose from the fact that public sector employees redesigned the document templates, whereby the individual adaptations often did not comply with the authority's regulations and specifications. A uniform appearance in the sense of a corporate identity was another wish of the government council.
